Insurance Producers
Appleby & Wyman, a large award-winning regional insurance agency providing insurance services to the Metro Boston community, is currently looking for Insurance Producers.
Summary : Develops and maintains a book of personal and commercial lines property and casualty business as agreed to, on an annual basis with the Sales Manager. Assists with prospecting and sales of Employee Benefits and Bond Insurance. Identifies and penetrates target market areas, in addition to general sales, in order to acquire and retain accounts in alignment with the Agency’s target market and growth goals. Ensures book of business is properly managed and yielding expected results.
Essential Duties and Responsibilities:
- Generates leads for new business prospects through cold calling, telemarketing, referrals, etc, for both general and targeted market areas.
- Prepares new business proposals for potential accounts including recommendations for appropriate coverages.
- Acquires and retains profitable personal lines and/or commercial lines accounts.
- Accountable for renewal decisions for appropriate book of business.
- Properly manages and services book of business through Account Managers and third party functions such as Claims and Underwriting.
- Contributes to the setting of overall business goals for the Agency with the Sales Manager.
- Ensures that the acquisition of new and renewal business is appropriately aligned with Agency goals.
- Develops a strong team approach with Account Managers to ensure changes and overall service standards are clearly communicated and understood.
- Represents Agency positively and professionally.
- Utilized as a resource for problem solving or service issues with existing accounts.
- Other duties as assigned.
Qualifications:
Education & Experience: Knowledge of the insurance industry within a Sales Producer capacity as typically obtained through a minimum of 5 years of directly related experience. Bachelor’s degree or equivalent experience. Broker’s license required. CPCU and CIC are recommended.
Technical Skills: Working knowledge of Agency Management System, Microsoft Office Suite and the internet.
Required Skills, Knowledge & Abilities: Leadership, communication and negotiation skills, with the ability to prospect, market, sell and close a sale.Ability to build strong client and insurance company relationships. Attention to detail with the ability to think strategically. Strong organizational, time management, problem solving and follow through skills. Strong written and verbal communication skills. Must be self-directed and able to work independently with minimal supervision as well as within a team. Ability to multi-task and meet deadlines with the ability to adjust priorities as necessary. Valid driver’s license.
Physical Demands :
- Required to sit for long periods of time.
- Infrequent light physical effort required.
- Ability to drive to prospects, clients, insurance companies, A&W office locations, etc.
Work Environment
- Work performed in and out of an office environment.
